Be Iterative in Value Delivery for Digital Health Transformation
In digital health transformation, it's essential to deliver value iteratively, but not just as a buzzword—it's about prioritising impact. Focus on delivering larger, high-value changes first, followed by the finer details that bring diminishing returns. ie, know your end result and work backwards, delivering highest value first.
For example, in a comprehensive oncology centre, we aimed to make clinical information transparent across disciplines. We didn’t start with the small details. Instead, we first rolled out the new platform, a “shell” that allowed staff to access interdisciplinary data. Then, we gradually made clinical information visible one discipline at a time. Over time, the shell was filled with valuable insights, driving real change.
This same approach applies to configuration, workflow, and automation. Tackle the big touch points first—those will quickly reveal any major flaws or missteps. If you dive into details too early, you may struggle to pinpoint the root cause of issues.
By starting broad and iterating, you ensure that each phase of the transformation builds on solid ground. And I love making effective changes in digital transformation!
